This is an onsite, full-time position based in Albany, NY, requiring a motivated HR professional who can operate with minimal supervision and deliver exceptional employee support.

Job Description

General Statement of Duties

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for administering employee benefit programs and managing a variety of general HR responsibilities. The role requires providing efficient, accurate, and confidential support to employees while maintaining compliance with company policies, benefits regulations, and HR processes.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Administration

Administer all employee benefit programs, including health insurance, disability benefits, 401(k), workers' compensation, and voluntary benefits.
Conduct comprehensive benefits presentations for all new hires during onboarding and ensure timely distribution of enrollment materials.
Determine employee eligibility for benefit plans and support employees through the enrollment and change process.
Respond promptly to employee inquiries related to benefits, coverage, status changes, and plan provisions.
Track, maintain, and update employee eligibility for the 401(k) plan.
Coordinate with the payroll department to ensure accuracy of 401(k) contributions and timely employee notifications.
Partner with benefit vendors and brokers to resolve escalated issues, manage claims, support COBRA administration, and oversee 401(k) plan compliance.
Accurately record and administer COBRA notifications and processes.

Human Resources Operations

Maintain accurate and confidential HR files, personnel records, and documentation.
Process and track employee status changes, separations, and termination paperwork.
Organize and facilitate new hire orientation, prepare onboarding materials, and create personnel files.
Administer employee Paid Time Off (PTO), tracking usage and ensuring compliance with policy guidelines.
Ensure HR procedures comply with federal and state regulations, including FMLA and ADA.
Process and manage all leave of absence requests, disability documentation, and related communication.

Employee Relations & Support

Provide high-quality customer service to all employees and maintain positive working relationships.
Assist employees in navigating benefit questions, policy clarifications, and HR-related matters.
Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all HR interactions and recordkeeping.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Knowledge and understanding of employee benefit programs and HR compliance regulations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
Excellent employee relations skills and communication abilities.
Proficiency in computer applications and HR databases.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Valid, unrestricted driver's license with reliable transportation.

Education

Associate's Degree with 2-3 years of Human Resources experience required.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
Close visual acuity required for detailed work and digital documentation.

Working Conditions

Primarily a quiet, office-based environment with frequent computer use.
Regular interaction with colleagues, employees, and vendors via phone, email, and in-person.
