About the role
Reporting to the Head of People & Culture in our Sydney office, the Senior People Partner is responsible for enhancing the end-to-end employee experience while ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, industrial instruments, and organisational practices. This role partners with leaders to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture aligned with organisational values and strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee experience, engagement, and workforce strategies
Align workforce initiatives with organisational goals and workforce planning priorities
Develop programs that improve engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion across the employee lifecycle
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Provide expert advice on employment legislation, industrial instruments, and enterprise agreements
Ensure compliance with relevant Awards, Fair Work Act, WHS legislation, and public sector employment frameworks
Manage complex employee relations matters, including grievances, investigations, and performance management
Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures to reflect legislative requirements and organisational values
Design and optimise HR processes for efficiency and compliance
Analyse engagement surveys and HR metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements
Build leadership capability in managing people and fostering positive workplace culture
Skills and experience
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline
Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments, industrial relations, and policy development
Senior level experience in HR business partnering supporting diverse workforce needs
Proven capability in managing complex people matters with professionalism and sound judgement
Experience in developing and facilitating education and information sessions to support capability development
The ability to foster a positive, purpose-driven culture and support staff development
Strategic thinking skills and proven ability to influence senior stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective, collaborative relationships.
Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management
Operational understanding of Commonwealth legislation is advantageous
Experience in the wholesale banking and finance sector is desirable
